BIM tools

by Mark Rowe

ASSA ABLOY UK Specification, a UK division of ASSA ABLOY, the door and physical security product company, has launched 3D, BIM-enabled tools. The firm says its aim is to simplify door and hardware specification.

Openings Studio, a BIM-enabled product specification tool, and BIM Door Solutions, a selection of BIM-ready openings packages, can streamline the specification process, as well as reducing costs across the project lifecycle, according to the company. The software, suitable it’s claimed for all building projects and applications, provides product information and performance data to comply with budgets and see that building regulations are adhered to, while 3D views aid design integration. Data is available in multiple formats to ensure easy collaboration with all stakeholders.

Tim Checketts, Specification Director, said: “Whether you choose ready-made BIM Door Solutions packages or a tailored solution through Openings Studio, both tools are designed to simplify specification and add value at every stage, from design through to construction and beyond. BIM is changing the building landscape, bringing with it improvements in design, specification, delivery and asset management. Our tools give our partners more time to focus on what they do best, creating high quality, sustainable buildings, more efficiently and cost effectively.”
