Wireless alarms for building

by Mark Rowe

One of Europe’s tallest residential buildings, the 68 storey South Quay Plaza in Canary Wharf, has fire protection equipment from Bull Products. Bull has been contracted to supply more than 80 of its Cygnus alarm systems across all floors of the apartment block, which will be in place until project completion in 2020.

The Cygnus radio product, pictured, made by Bull Products, offers wireless emergency fire, first aid, and intruder alarms for construction sites. The makers say it has been designed for use on building sites where changing site conditions and spaces demand a higher performance from the radio than that found in standard industry wireless linked fire systems, according to the firm.

Ross Markham, managing director at Bull Products, says: “We’re proud to be installing our alarm systems on what is set to be one of the largest skylines in Europe – it truly showcases the leaps and bounds of the Cygnus system. Our alarm units are becoming widely used in some of the largest construction projects and some of the most famous buildings in London and we believe this is down to the system’s innovation, flexibility, and reliability.”

As background, South Quay Plaza is set within 2.6 acres and will comprise of over 900 homes, ground floor retail across two landmark buildings, a dockside promenade, and a park.
