Role: Quantity Surveyor – Fire and Security

Location: Chadderton

Salary: £39,000 – £45,000 per annum + bonuses + 33 days holiday

We are currently seeking a dedicated Quantity Surveyor specialised in the Fire & Security sector to join a team in Chadderton. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the Fire & Security division, ensuring compliance, effective cost management, and the fulfilment of project objectives.

Responsibilities:

  • Take charge of overseeing the Fire & Security division, ensuring all operations are conducted in compliance with standards and regulations.
  • Ensure all commercial practices are followed according to company standards.
  • Provide comprehensive reports on project progress, issues, and outcomes.
  • Oversee project schedules to ensure timely completion.
  • Work closely with PMs to align project objectives and resolve any discrepancies.
  • Implement strategies for effective cost control and management throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Conduct detailed site valuations to assess progress and adjust billing accordingly.
  • Ensure all projects are billed correctly, reflecting actual work done and costs incurred.
  • Develop and apply measures to protect the company from potential risks and liabilities.
  • Efficiently manage dealings with sub-contractors to ensure compliance and performance.
  • Oversee the closing out of jobs, ensuring all financial and operational ends are tied.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to the apprentice Quantity Surveyor, fostering professional growth.
  • Prepare and submit detailed monthly reports on project status, financials, and future projections.
  • Monitor and manage material costs and quantities, ensuring efficient use and procurement.
  • Keep a vigilant eye on project progress, ensuring all activities stay on track and within budget.
  • Regularly visit project sites to review progress, engage with teams, and address any immediate concerns.
  • Maintain strong communication lines with clients, ensuring their expectations are met and fostering long-term relationships.

Experience and Certifications Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying is essential.
  • A minimum of 2 years of previous experience in a similar role is desirable.
  • Outgoing personality with strong communication skills, capable of effectively liaising with project teams, clients, and sub-contractors.
  • Willingness to visit sites as required to ensure project requirements are being met.
