Corniche entry

by Mark Rowe

The Corniche is a riverside development of three high-rise buildings in central London, offering views of the Thames. In keeping with the sleek, contemporary architecture from Foster + Partners, the buildings have door entry systems from Comelit. The ViP system – fitted by security systems installer Interphone – consists of four 3one6 Sense entrance panels, 213 Icona internal monitors and third-party home automation integration.

The 3one6 Sense audio/video entrance panels feature a brushed stainless steel touch-sensitive smooth surface with no buttons, integrated colour camera and LCD and are fitted at entrances to each tower. Inside each apartment is an Icona door entry monitor. They come with a gloss surface in transparent, scratch-resistant polycarbonate, edged with a brushed stainless steel surround. The full-duplex hands-free monitor features white back-lit touch-sensitive controls and a 4.3-inch colour LCD screen. The product comes in flush mounted, surface-mounted or desktop versions. Secondary level functions are not displayed but can be activated by swiping across the screen.

All of the three buildings also have Comelit’s Multi-User Gateway, which allows access to be controlled and monitored by residents using the Comelit APP installed on a smartphone or tablet.

Some of the third-party control panels at the site are integrated with the Comelit door entry system via the Comelit 1456G home automation interface. This allows residents to answer calls and open doors and limits the amount of control panels cluttering the walls.

Chris Carroll, business development manager at Comelit said: “Icona comes from the root ‘iconic’, and this applies in equal measures to the Corniche development as well as our door entry monitors, which complement the striking design of the apartments. In addition, Multi-User Gateway lets residents control access and respond to calls – even when they are away from their homes.”
