Travel risk modules

by Mark Rowe

A Swedish firm, GWS Production AB (GWS), has signed an agreement with the insurance company Chubb INA Holdings Inc for Travel Risk e-learning. It’s for users of the Chubb Travel Smart app and security portal, developed by GWS. The e-learning will be integrated within the Chubb Travel Smart mobile app and has 12 travel risk-focused modules.

In autumn 2017, GWS and Chubb, the property and non-life insurer, signed a global cooperation agreement. The contract involved development of Chubb’s travel safety solution specifically for corporate customers, provided by GWS. The eLearning will be interactive, using video and gamification features. Users travelling to high-risk locations will be reminded to complete the course before their trip. HR, employee benefits managers or risk managers who are responsible to meet the ‘Duty of Care’ for their travelling employees will be able to monitor which employees have completed the 12 modules.

According to research by the Global Business Travel Association in cooperation with WWStay presented in Forbes, awareness of the risks faced by female travellers has never been higher, but only 18 per cent of corporate travel policies specifically address matters relating to the safety needs of female business travellers. This is something that the new e-learning solution will address, the firms say.

The developers say that the e-learning (in English, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian and French) is designed to be flexible enough to add modules when a specific threat or new travel risk arises.

Natasha Reoutt, Vice President, Accident & Health Multinational Business at Chubb, says: “We are very excited about Chubb Travel Smart eLearning solution that will provide our clients with the knowledge and skills to improve situational awareness, proactively identify threats to avoid danger and stay safe while travelling. This eLearning will help our clients to demonstrate their commitment toward their Duty of Care and manage their financial and reputational risks by preparing their employees for international travel.”

And Andreas Rodman, CEO of GWS says: “With this new e-learning solution we are raising the bar on user friendliness for travel security solutions. By integrating the e-learning solution into the travellers App, automated reporting tools and gamification we will create a new level of interaction that increases the security awareness for the travellers.”
