Interviews

Regional auditors

by Mark Rowe

SSAIB, the UK fire, security and telecare certification body for organisations, has recruited two new regional auditors. They’re to carry out inspections of existing, and potential new, registered firms. This follows the recent retirement of a long-standing and well known SSAIB inspector for the north-west of England, Adrian Lupton.

SSAIB Chief Executive Geoff Tate welcomed the new auditors, Peter Cowell and Anthony Collett. Peter has nearly 30 years’ security industry experience with companies including Thorn Security. More recently he was MD of HSG Security. He will now be inspecting companies in Essex, Suffolk, Norfolk, Cambridgeshire, Herts, Bedfordshire and Northants.

Meanwhile, Anthony has also been working in the industry for a similar time in roles including an alarm engineer and contracts manager for firms such as Secom and Bell Security. As a regional auditor, his patch covers the counties of Kent, Sussex and Surrey.

Peter recently attained a quality management systems lead auditor qualification and Anthony will be attending a similar course run by the International Register of Certificated Auditors later this year. Geoff Tate says: “We’re delighted to have two inspectors with such a broad span of knowledge, all of which is now available to our existing registered firms as well as businesses actively considering the many benefits available through certification by SSAIB.”
