Ram raids and other physical attacks on ATMs continue to increase, while non-physical forms of attack involving counterfeit cards, skimming and IT-software breaches are also on the rise.
ATMs represent a target for organised crime and in the current climate even for terrorist activity.
Banks and independent ATM deployers from across Europe have implemented a range of solutions to minimise these security threats, and industry representatives are convening in London to share their experiences at the Sec 7 ATM Security Conference on October 8 and 9.
The event will include case studies, with speakers from banks such as HSBC, Swedbank and Ceská Spoitelna and independent ATM deployers such as Australia’s Customers. Visa and MasterCard will focus on ATM fraud from a card perspective, while the police will update on the important relationship between deployers, vendors and the law enforcement community.
Sec 7 is jointly organised by ATMIA Europe, the region’s only ATM industry association, and Retail Banking Research (RBR), a research and consulting firm specialising in ATMs and self-service banking. For those interested in attending, more information is available at www.atmiaconferences.com
