The Neverfail Group will launch their solution for Microsoft SQL Server Applications at Business Continuity – The Risk Management Expo 2004.

Neverfail for Microsoft SQL Server Applications comes with a price tag from £3,000 and can be implemented within hours. The software is suitable for any size of organisation and presents a simple and effective low cost solution to eliminate damage and loss caused by planned and unplanned downtime, the firm claims. Stephen Stobo, Sales and Marketing Director for the Neverfail Group, says: "We are looking to offer ‘out of the box’ support for any application that runs on SQL Server. This release enables Neverfail Heartbeat high availability to be viable for the significant majority of software applications that utilise SQL Server with little to no effort from the software author."

Neverfail reduces downtime, according to the firm, by: monitoring – the whole application environment to ensure all components are working; recovering – from errors in individual components without the need to failover to a secondary system; replicating – the whole application environment, including data, application, system and even registry information to ensure that there is no single point of failure in the solution; switchover – in the event of major problem, automatic switchover from a primary server to a secondary in a controlled fashion to ensure no data loss and minimum downtime; and failover – in the event of a catastrophic failure, rapidly bringing the application up on a secondary server and getting end-users up and running again.

DR dead as dodo

Neil Robertson, CEO for the Neverfail Group will also be presenting at the show on day two. The presentation will be based on disaster recovery, and why in his opinion it is "as dead as the dodo". Robertson says: "DR has long been considered an insurance policy; you spend a lot of money on something you hope you’ll never need. And when you do need to use it, recovery of your services and systems is both slow and cumbersome, with no guarantee that all your data will be recovered. Businesses have become more and more dependent upon electronic data processing in their day-to-day activities, and are spending vast amounts in ensuring that they are running and communicating efficiently; application failures reduce productivity and harm business reputation. Now, for a few thousand more they can ensure that this investment is not affected by system failure." The Neverfail Group will be on stand 218. Neil Robertson will be presenting on March 10 in Theatre One at 10.45am.
