A new on-line toolkit allows companies to assess how secure they and their employees are.
Developed by Perpetuity Research and Consultancy International Ltd, a spin-out company from the University of Leicester, the on-line benchmarking tool enables organisations to benchmark their security. The tool – hosted on the Perpetuity website – is free of charge. Joe Greenan, Security, Health and Safety Manager of Allen and Overy said: "This tool will not only allow enterprises to benchmark their organisation against others in the industry, the common thread is that it will identify weaknesses and provide a structure for determining cost effective security priorities".
John Hall BMW Security Manager said of the tool: "The benchmarking tool is without doubt the most innovative security measurement software I have used. For a long time I have wanted to independently understand how successful and effective our security systems, policies and procedures are. The security benchmarking tool has enabled me to individually score each element of BMW security and focus on areas that need improvement. Thank you PRCI, I am looking forward to sharing my results with other security professionals within the industry."
Professor Martin Gill added: "We have found that for a long time now companies have been saying that they do not know how good, or bad, their security is. Here is a chance to find out. We are committed to help companies raise standards in security, and we believe the tool will be a key opportunity".
