As England limped into the second round of the World Cup finals, Westminster Police Security Desk were thinking positively, and were giving as much warning as possible of a large event which could affect most of central London.
When, or if, the England football team makes it to the final of the World Cup, a parade will take place in London on Tuesday, July 11, starting at about midday. The parade will start at Park Crescent and progress along Portland Place, Regent St, Piccadilly and end in Hyde Park. This is expected to attract a very large audience and substantial road closures will take place in and around the route of the parade.
As Westminster police say: “This message may seem a little premature bearing in mind our indifferent performances so far. However it is intended to give you as much notice as possible so that should (metatarsals willing) we progress that far, enabling you and your business to implement any necessary plans.”
