Career coaching is a new service from security management recruitment firm SSR Personnel Services, designed to help managers develop their careers while remaining focused.
Del Hunter, director at the London-based firm, sys: “We each spend an average of half our waking hours at work. Our jobs are central to our lives and in today’s hectic life, ensuring you have the right skills for developing a career is vital. It impacts on every part of our lives and yet few people plan their career; most simply let it control them. This service is about assisting busy professionals to take back their careers.”
Karen Saunders, who has first-hand experience of the service, says: "Career coaching helped me discover passion, skills and talents, and assisted me in clarifying what was missing in my professional life. They then helped identify the skills I needed to achieve my objectives. I now earn the money I need and enjoy coming to work."
Unlike traditional career counsellors, says SSR, a career coach is not just a listening board making recommendations about your choice of career. The firm says its career coach listens, offers advice, challenges, encourages and supports. They share your ups and downs, but won’t get thrown off by the many distractions that clutter our working lives. Their priority is your priority and this means they, the career coach, look at the whole person: considering the personal, family and business aspects of your life.
