Casino Control

by msecadm4921

Three kilometres from central Ljubljana, the capital of Slovenia, the Domina Grand Media Casino, with its accompanying four-star hotel, is one of the main visitor highlights of this city.

The casino is regarded as one of the foremost leisure facilities in Europe. As such, the Domina Grand management felt it appropriate to provide their guests with a security system, to protect and reassure them while enjoying the Casino’s facilities.

Following an internal review of security, it was decided that CCTV would offer the best way of safekeeping customers. The Domina’s management turned to ED Electronic Design of Ljubljana, who with specialist CCTV control manufacturer Synectics, specified a monitoring system designed to meet the demands of a contemporary gaming and entertainment environment.

Recently completed, the system uses Sony HDV 900, JVC TKC 920E and 360VISION VID-1800P04-FC-NP cameras, information from which is transmitted to a 256 input Synectics ‘Tesseract SM’ switching matrix.

Featuring a modular design, all Tesseract matrices are readily expandable and compatible with most popular brands of peripheral equipment, the firms report. Marko Fric, CEO of ED Electronic Design said: " As well as the operational benefits gained from the Tesseract Matrix’s ease of use, using Synectics switching control provides us with a reliable performance benchmark, easing the complexity of an intricate installation."

The matrix controls 152 cameras, covering almost every part of the casino floor, including gaming tables, cash desks and all of its entrance and exit points. Viewed from the control room, the casino operators can monitor customers for their own safety and peace of mind, as well as broader health and safety concerns.

At the Domina Grand, four Synectics X250 keyboards are used, catering for multiple users and accommodating future installation expansion.

The control system, with digital recording, enables the casino management to review any incidents that occur on the gaming floor and provide clarification of bet details. Summarising, Marko Fric added: "Using Synectics control keyboards and switching matrices holds great benefits for us as the installer, as Synectics products are one part of system that we don’t have to worry about. It works perfectly in each and every installation application, providing limitless upgrading potential, ultimate system stability and real ease of use."
