Control Pad

by msecadm4921

Electrone Europe, custom-designed IT peripherals vendor, has launched the latest version of its programmable CCTV control pad, the Electrone System200 TCP-IP.

This product with TCP-IP functionality enables remote operators to control multiple cameras using the internet or designated intranet from anywhere in the world. Each device can be setup with its own IP address allowing it to be uniquely identified on the network and to manage a large number of devices remotely. Upon connection each controller connects with its designated host for verification and authentication on the network.

What they say

Stuart Thorn, chief executive of Electrone Europe, says: “Electrone has developed the device to allow users to opt for dynamic IP assignment (DHCP) or to manually assign a static IP. This flexible functionality allows users with only limited technical knowledge to setup the device and is particularly cost effective for installing units in remote locations.”

Remote access allows the control pad to be upgraded and managed from a central location. There is no need for designated local PC controllers and digital video recorders (DVRs) can be off-site.

Thorn adds: “Currently DVRs have to be within the length of USB cable away from controllers. We are allowing sensitive footage to be held in a secure environment away from even the operators monitoring the cameras."

The standard model is equipped with a triple-axis joystick enabling the operator to pan, tilt and zoom remote motorised cameras. An added option allows the joystick to also emulate a mouse at the touch of a button, for use with mouse-based CCTV software systems. The two-button joystick is designed for natural motion and includes six programmable membrane keys at its base.

Modular design allows for up to 70 programmable buttons – each capable of controlling or operating a separate action or activity. The integrated two-port USB hub can be used to connect other peripherals, including keyboards and mice, which will then work over the network to carry out device functions. The Electrone System200 TCP-IP can also be used for a range of applications outside the security market. The product is fully compliant with the RoHS environmental standards.

An optional graphic LCD is capable of displaying any language including Arabic, Chinese and Urdu. This bi-directional communication allows specific commands to be issued to the operator without interrupting what is displayed to the user. User tasks can be prompted step by step using the in-built display. Electrone is looking to increase its network of resellers.
