International government officials, law enforcers and business leaders are to gather in France in November for a Second Global Congress on Combating Counterfeiting and Piracy.
Hosted by Interpol and the World Customs Organization (WCO) and supported by the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO), the two day event runs at the Palais des Congrès in Lyon on November 14 and 15.
Invited speakers
The invited speakers include Interpol Secretary General Ronald K Noble, WCO Secretary General Michel Danet, French Interior Minister Nicolas Sarkozy and Vice President of the European Commission Franco Frattini, besides government officials from China, Nigeria and the United States.
The Global Business Leaders Alliance Against Counterfeiting (GBLAAC) an organisation representing international companies, the International Trademark Association (INTA), the International Security Management Association (ISMA) and the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) will also take part in a congress representing the private sector. Based on the recommendations from the first congress, this conference is aimed, organisers report, at identifying concrete solutions and practical action required by governments and the private sector to develop anti-counterfeiting strategies.
