New from Hikvision is the DS-7200HVI-ST/SE series of stand-alone DVRs. The makers say that these digital recorders are designed for smaller-scale security uses such as in convenience stores, offices, homes, and petrol stations.
These entry-level DVRs use H.264 video compression algorithm for video storage; and the manufacturers add offer many features of high-end DVR solutions.
The series has a maximum 16-channel video and audio input system, with eight and four-channel option. This serves to offer video with a resolution of up to 4CIF. These units can take up to 2 SATA hard disk drives with a maximum capacity of 2 TB per drive. With HDD pre-allocation, the series can reliably record for an extended time (with earlier video files automatically overwritten when the HDDs become full), and the makers say reduce maintenance costs.
In comparison to the earlier DVRs, this new series has an improved GUI; the company adds. Other features include dual stream, simultaneous VGA and CVBS output, pre-recording and post-recording for motion detection, multiplex operation (which allows simultaneous live view/review/recording), audio in/out, PTZ control, and e-mail event notification.
