Fighting HGV Crime

by msecadm4921

Plymouth company Securi-Guard has been selected to be the UK?s national service provider of EUROWATCH, a scheme aimed at tackling crime against commercial vehicles.

Every year, around 10,000 road haulage vehicles travel to Europe and year alone, crime against commercial vehicles is rising, report EUROWATCH. The main problems facing drivers abroad are language difficulties and being unable to contact the police because emergency numbers cannot be dialled across borders. If telematics systems are being used, the tracking data cannot be forwarded to the police. EUROWATCH, which was developed by TRI-MEX International, enables drivers to access police help from any European country by dialling a single telephone number. Tracking information can then be forwarded directly to the police. At present 1,500 vehicles in Europe use this technology which can be used with any GPS-based tracking system. The system works through a central web site and a network of 17 NSPs in Europe that have accreditation to police in each country. Pictured are Mark Schwarz, Commercial Director at EUROWATCHCENTRAL Limited and Pete Stanley, Securi-Guard?s Vehicle Bureau Manager, who said: “We have at present in excess of 50 vehicles in the UK registered with EUROWATCH and hope that many more road transport operators and contractors will recognise the benefits and peace of mind that it gives their drivers.” said: “EUROWATCH is delighted to have Securi-Guard as its UK National Service Provider. All National Service providers are selected for their credibility, proficiency and professionalism and Securi-Guard met those requirements hands-down.”
