Fraud Speak

The Fraud World 2007 conference runs in London on September 26 and 27.

Just about every topic under the fraud sun gets an airing, from money laundering to spyware and identity fraud; and lie detection technology, covered by Lior Koskas and Kerry Furber, of voice analysis product firm Digilog UK. To start day one Colin Woodcock, head of section – fraud at the Serious Organised Crime Agency (SOCA) outlines with case studies how SOCA responds to fraud. The event offers a mix of corporate and law enforcer speakers. Day one invited speakers include Nick Ilett, director of intelligence at the European Anti-Fraud Office (OLAF), and James Allen, principal investigation officer at the Office of Fair Trading; Ian Drayner, head of BT revenue protection at BT; and Richard Davies, national investigations manager at DIY retailer B&Q. Other retailer speakers include Simon Hoyle, head of risk management and profit protection ta River Island, and Richard Lawrance, fraud prevention support manager at House of Fraser.

Day two speakers include Robin Docksey, loss prevention and security manager at play.com; forensic accountant David Alexander; and Nick Glynne of East Computers, describing an e-tailer’s battle against identity theft. Other case studies come from Alan Day, senor audit and investigations manager at Transport for London; Patrick Foley, security analyst at the Starwood Hotels chain; and Martyn Bennett, head of investigations – risk assurance division at thge Department for Work and Pensions. Det Insp Chris Simpson, secretary to the ACPO E-Crime working group, will discuss managing information security risks in the workplace.
