West Yorkshire Police has joined forces with the Post Office and Security Team Grapevine as part of a new crime prevention initiative.
Neighbourhood Policing officers will be stepping up patrols near Post Offices when cash deliveries and collections are taking place and also visiting them on a regular basis.
The scheme has been run in other parts of the country and West Yorkshire are now adopting the tactic.
Details and photos of local officers will be found inside Post Office’s across West Yorkshire so communities contact them about suspicious activities.
DC Nigel Smith of West Yorkshire Police Force Intelligence said: "There is clear evidence that a uniformed patrol presence deters potential offenders from attacking both the post office itself and or the “Cash in Transit” crews that are delivering or collecting cash and stock from the premises.
"This is why we are working closely with the Post Office and Grapevine to prevent crime occurring and to share intelligence."
