Although thermal imaging technology is relatively new in the security and surveillance sector it is now recognised as an important tool for protecting assets and people. Demand for its infrared cameras is growing steeply, reports FLIR Systems.
Economies achieved through the company’s volume manufacture of detector cores have allowed the production of systems that provide value for money and a rapid return on investment, according to the firm.
FLIR Systems’ first security and surveillance international sales meeting was held in Santiago, Spain in early April. The two day event was attended by 80 distributors of FLIR cameras from across the Eurasia region.
Presentations from the regional sales managers highlighted the diversity of security applications. The meeting also provided the opportunity for a closer look at new additions to the company’s products.
This was first time many attendees had seen the new cameras from CEDIP, the infrared specialist that FLIR Systems acquired in early 2008.
The meeting was also held in the wake of breaking news that FLIR Systems has acquired Ifara Technologies, the Spanish developer of analytical software and developer tools for the security and surveillance sector.
