Iraq Tale

by msecadm4921

ArmorGroup International reports it is supporting the Anglo-Iraqi performance of the “The Soldier’s Tale” by The Motion Group at The Old Vic theatre, London.

The security company, which has some 1,300 staff in Iraq, provided protective security to The Motion Group’s director, Andrew Steggall, on casting visits to Baghdad in 2005.

ArmorGroup is also a corporate partner for the theatre group, offering security at cost price plus helping them liaise with other financial sponsors.

Presented by The Motion Group in a co-production with The Old Vic Theatre Company and in association with The National Theatre of Iraq, The Soldier’s Tale opened at The Old Vic on January 26 and runs until February 4. This piece of musical theatre, originally composed by Stravinsky in 1918, has been given a new translation in both English and Arabic, the languages and styles conveying different but equally compelling voices, but the new narrative will honour the original Faustian story of a soldier who sells his soul to the devil in return for infinite wealth.

What they say

Jerry Hoffman, Chief Executive Officer, ArmorGroup International plc, says: "This is a fantastic cross-cultural initiative which will play a small part in enhancing the lives of regular Iraqis, and we take great pleasure in supporting it."

Andrew Steggall, Artistic Director, The Motion Group says, "We are very grateful to ArmorGroup for partnering with us during this project. It is no exaggeration to say that without their protection and support we would not have been able to carry out early casting expeditions to Baghdad."
