Northumbria Police and the council took to streets of Hebburn and Jarrow in the latest in a series of joint patrols.
Neighbourhood Policing Teams were joined by officers from the council’s Anti-social Behaviour Unit to patrol Hebburn New Town, Hebburn Quay, the town’s Clock, Clegwell and Hartleyburn areas and Primrose in Jarrow.
Issues dealt with ranged from alcohol, noise and anti-social behaviour-related problems. Flyers were also posted through doors giving useful advice on how best to report anti-social behaviour, while also carrying messages encouraging victims to come forward so that the authorities can take action to help.
Ian King, Neighbourhood Inspector for the area, said: "This is an excellent example of effective partnership working which we hope will make a real difference to neighbourhoods in Hebburn and Jarrow. We treat all reports of anti-social behaviour seriously and will use all means at our disposal to investigate such offences.
"These joint patrols act as an extra tool to alleviate problems of anti-social behaviour and show we are responding to any concerns raised by residents. Through this multi-agency approach, we hope to further improve the area and quality of life for residents as well as cut crime and raise residents’ confidence that they do live in a safe area."
