With the eyes of the world turning to London in 2012 for the hosting of the Olympic Games next summer, a London based security glazing company, Advanced Glass Technology (AGT), says that it‚Äôs gearing up for a boost in orders from businesses within the capital….
Having seen increased international demand from building owners wanting to mitigate risk to life and property in the event of civil unrest or even a terrorist attack, AGT expects that a focus on heightened security in the run up to the Games will result in greater awareness of its ISO-approved anti-shatter blast containment film. Embassies, Non-Governmental Organisations and private institutions are among buildings that have undergone what AGT terms protection fitment.
With security films starting at a thickness of 50 microns up to 450 microns, the multi-laminate polyester membrane can be applied to any glass surface. It is bonded with what the makers call an aggressive pressure sensitive adhesive system resulting in any broken glass adhering to the film. AGT also offers installation with a range of specialist anchoring and edge retention systems, according to the client’s requirements.
Potential opportunities
Martin Westney, Managing Director, Advanced Glass Technology, said: “The global spotlight will be on London next year and there’s a tremendous amount of construction underway not just in relation to the Olympics but within the City and elsewhere in the capital. Whilst architects and developers are increasingly pushing the envelope in terms of building design, it’s vital that building owners seek to protect not only their investment but also the lives of occupants against any eventuality. AGT has a proven track record in providing a bespoke and cost effective service.”
Recent international contracts awarded to AGT include the Bank of India HQ in Mumbai, the British Embassy, US Embassy and Amman City Mall in Jordan, and a NATO contract partnership with PIKE Solutions and Omega in Kosovo.
