Manchester Access

by msecadm4921

Before opening a new site in Manchester, serviced offices company Anvic Developments, specified that the very latest technology should be employed to create a safe and secure environment for all working in and visiting the building.

Piccadilly House is in the heart of Manchester overlooking Piccadilly Gardens. It has been converted by Anvic Developments to offer six floors of flexible office accommodation to businesses seekking a serviced office environment.

Rosendale-based William Dyer Electrical was contracted to provide all the building services, including intruder alarms and CCTV. A priority was to ensure that access to Piccadilly House could be tightly controlled without any inconvenience to people working in the building.

What they say

Managing Director, William Dyer says: "We wanted to install a system which would allow Anvic Developments’ clients to effortlessly gain access whilst having the ability to keep out unwanted visitors."

William Dyer consulted Urmet who designed a solution based on an Urmet door entry system working with an FDI Passan access control system.

The Digivoice door entry panel at the front entrance of Piccadilly House is fully DDA [Disability Discrimination Act] compliant and offers audio communication and video. Visitors can communicate with a tenant or seek access by talking to the building’s receptionist located on the first floor. The Passan access control reader is built into the Digivoice panel and allows access via the front entrance to anyone holding a valid fob in close proximity to the reader.

Authorised personnel are issued with access control fobs which can be programmed individually or in groups to allow access to certain parts of the building at specified time and days of the week.

William Dyer adds: "The two systems work extremely well together and in fact as far as the users are concerned it is as though there is only one system in place. Anvic Developments are so pleased with the Urmet solution that they have instructed us to install the same system combination in all their future serviced office developments."
