by msecadm4921

Counter terrorism and business continuity issues will be the focus of the 14th annual Manchester Security 2009 event. Organisers say it aims to educate businesses on how to rise to the challenge in a society facing changing crime trends.

The event on Tuesday, March 31, at New Century Hall, Corporation Street, Manchester, will be opened by Chief Constable Peter Fahy and will host seminars including speakers from the Counter Terrorism Unit and the Economic Crime Section at Greater Manchester Police and a presentation from the Manchester Business Continuity Forum. The opening of the event will also see the presentation of the Greater Manchester Police Business Watch Coordinator of the Year Award.

John Bates, Chief Executive of the British Security Industry Association, says: "This event is an ideal opportunity for Manchester businesses to find out about the latest security, business continuity and counter terrorism issues. There is a free exhibition offering visitors the chance to find out more about a host of the latest security products and services. This is an event not to be missed for Manchester businesses wishing to find out more about protecting their premises, staff and customers."

Stuart Pizzey MBE of Greater Manchester Police, says: "In a landscape of changing crime trends, security is of paramount importance. This event will offer you the latest advice from a range of policing and security professionals to help you better prepare and take appropriate steps to help prevent crime."

The event, sponsored by G4S Security Services (UK) Ltd, is organised with Greater Manchester Police, the Manchester City Centre Crime Prevention Panel, the British Security Industry Association and Manchester City Council. Doors open at 9am and entry is free.
