AlwaysON Group, Reading based provider of MPLS VPN Networks and Voice over Internet Protocol (VOIP) solutions, has appointed Steve Smith as Customer Services and Operations Director.

Steve joins from ADT where he was managing a £20m business unit in the north of England

Steve has experience in the telecommunications and security sectors, with organisations including Cirrus Communications, where he was Managing Director; Tunstall Telecom, where he was UK Service Director; and Regional Managing Director, and Modern Vitalcall, part of ASH where he became Managing Director having risen from within the Technical Support operation. Steve also served as an advisor to the Director General of Oftel and holds an MBA.

AlwaysON was recently listed as the fastest growing telecommunications provider in the Sunday Times Tech Track 100 list and reports recent contract wins of £5m.

George Zaremba the CEO and founder of AlwaysON said: "We recognise that our customers expect excellent service from their voice and data networks. Excellent is a word not understood in the Telecomms sector and we aim to change that. Steve joining us signals our commitment to creating change within the sector, once again AlwaysON are set to break the mould."

Steve said: "I believe AlwaysON will become the network of choice for those that require security and quality of service in their network and voice solutions. They have a unique approach to delivering secure network and voice solutions and take the pain away from making the step up to IP, a step everybody will have to make as the current BT Network goes through its 21CN changes."
