Petitions Site

by msecadm4921

Criminal justice and public order are among the topics covered by e-petitions that you can sign.

Some of the petitions to the Prime Minister include ‘remove the North Wales Police chief from office as soon as possible’, ‘hold a full public inquiry into the London bombings of July 7 2005′, take the war to criminals by permitting law-abiding citizens to carry concealed handguns’, and ‘instruct the UK Police to actively investigate credit card fraud / online auction fraud’ build more jails … bring back National Service … bring back hard labour … pay attention when millions sign a petition …

Prisons are a popular topic among petitioners. One suggests building the next British prison in Greenland (four signatures).

Some of the less signed-up-to petitions include ‘treat the abuse of ginger haired people the same as any other hate crime’, ‘relocate criminals from prison to work camps’, and ‘scrap the idea to introduce ID cards’.

For police, relevant petitions include ‘stop policing "on the cheap" and recruit police officers instead of powerless PCSOs’, and ‘convert 50pc of parking wardens into Police Officers’ which however has only got one signature.

For former and current members of the military, petitions of interest include ‘bring back dedicated military hospitals and provide adequate facilities (non NHS) for members of the armed forces who are injured or disabled in the course of their duties’ – at http://petitions.pm.gov.uk/Forces-Hospitals/

One idea with to date two signatures is on the lines of a driving licence: ‘I propose a LIFE LICENCE where civil and criminal offences accrue. Steal a Mars Bar and get 1 point; kill someone and get 90 points … you get the idea? Tot up to 100 points, and you’re removed from the country, all your assets are forfeit and your citizenship is revoked.’

There are petitions against ‘Big Brother’ CCTV, proposed CCTV that can see through your clothes (?) and a petition calling for more CCTV, ‘in all minor towns and villages’.
