Cross Point expands their line of readers with a new dual frequency proximity reader.

Cross Point expands their line of readers with a new dual frequency proximity reader. The firm claims that customers are increasingly attracted to emerging standards than to proprietary RF identification technology and to functional solutions that solve their specific problems and requirements. Cross Point has developed a dual frequency off-line / on-line proximity reader. The XM3 MICROPROXS Dual Frequency Proximity Reader is a proximity reader, supporting world wide RFID standards on 125kHz and 13.56MHz. The XM3 MICROPROXS introduces multiple tag standards and offers a programmable on-board memory which provides an answer to increasing needs within today?s security market, the firm says. Customers can use a single interface and communication protocol and still be able to read a wide range of proximity cards. The XM3 MICROPROXS is available in three versions. The ON-LINE BASIC version is a straightforward on-line reader unit to be integrated in applications with centralized intelligence. The STAND-ALONE version is an intelligent system featuring event logging and its memory can be configured to attach user name and PIN code to the card ID holder. A PC can be connected to the XM3 MICROPROXS, as well as a printer to directly print out the event log. This version has a memory capacity that can store up to 5000 user card IDs. The ON-LINE ADVANCED version combines on-line operation with stand-alone flexibility. In case of network failure, the ?dynamic switch mode? switches the unit to stand-alone operation; upon restoration of network communication, the unit switches back to on-line operation. Events thus will always be stored and local functionality will not be discontinued. All versions incorporate a tamper alarm.
