Pub Ban

Licensees are adopting a zero tolerance with individuals who commit offences in or around their premises, in part of North Liverpool.

Pubs, bars, and clubs in Everton, Anfield, Walton, Kirkdale and County areas have all joined forces. An official launch is on October 24 at Everton Football club were licensees will meet for a briefing on the scheme, including first hand views from a city centre licensee.

What they say

Joe Curran, Liverpool Chamber’s Crime Reduction Manager for Pub Watch said: “Over 50 pubs and clubs have signed an agreement and another 40 are keen join the Pub Watch. It is a national proven scheme that will target offenders and make the premises safer and more enjoyable to frequent. The members will be linked up via radio communication and additionally the Police will have Pub-watch radios too.”
 
Offenders that are banned from one premises could be banned from all. Information and photographs of offenders are circulated to pub-watch members. Joe added: “The banning is a clear message that if anyone commits crime in or around a pub or club they WILL be banned, irrespective of whether the Police charge them or they are committed. Both Liverpool and Everton Football clubs are looking at the scheme, creating the possibility that trouble causers banned from Pub-Watch will be excluded from entering the grounds,  an approach the FA is supporting.”
 
What police say

Chief Insp Chris Markey from Merseyside Police said: "The Pub Watch in the city centre has been successful and we are pleased to support a scheme that covers many of the pubs frequented on match days around Goodison and Anfield to reduce alcohol related crime and anti social behaviour in north of the city."
