QinetiQ, the defence and security product manufacturer, has appointed Clive Richardson as managing director of its European, Middle Eastern and Australasian operations, with effect from June 1.
He will be responsible for all operations except for QinetiQ North America and QinetiQ Ventures.
Richardson joins from BAE Systems Insyte, an operating subsidiary of BAE Systems, where he is chief executive officer. Insyte, which has 4,000 UK staff, develops and manufactures sensors, combat management systems and surveillance and command systems for the defence and homeland security markets. Richardson’s career with BAE Systems and its predecessors spans 18 years, and includes positions as managing director of its operating subsidiary Royal Ordnance, director of British Aerospace Defence Systems Group and commercial and legal director of BAe Airbus.
QinetiQ’s chief executive Graham Love said: “I am delighted to welcome Clive Richardson to QinetiQ. A barrister by training, Richardson is a member of the National Defence Industries Council, the organisation which aims to ensure that the interests of the UK defence industry and the MOD converge. He is also director and vice president defence for Intellect, the body which represents companies in the IT, telecoms and electronics sector.
