Seminar On Compliance

by msecadm4921

Security product company Adams Rite, part of the Assa Abloy group of companies, has developed a new seminar on Regulatory Compliance: Myths and Reality for its CPD Seminar programme focused on the Future of Aluminium Door Locking, Electric Locking and Escape Devices.

The seminar covers the common misconceptions about compliance with current legislation relating to locking and explores some of the facts and realities that can help contractors and architects specify the correct door hardware.

The seminar, accredited by the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA), is designed to help clients gain a better understanding of what is needed to comply with current standards and what the future holds in terms of new legislation and its impact on building safety and security.

Andy Stolworthy, product manager at Adams Rite says: “There are various standards and regulations that the construction industry needs to be aware of in order to comply with current legislation, but there is also confusion in the industry about what is mandatory and what is not.

“The rules governing locking standards are complex and not always consistently applied across residential and commercial premises, and these standards apply not just to locks but to other aspects such as the door and frame strength. Insurance requirements, the Disability Discrimination Act, Building Regulations, European regulation and Secured by Design all have their part to play in defining what needs to be specified and this seminar is designed to help increase understanding and minimise confusion.

“It also covers the requirements for exit hardware and complex area of classification codes for panic and emergency exit devices.”
