Software For Removable Devices

by msecadm4921

Computer retail chain PC World has chosen DriveSentry GoAnywhere antivirus software to protect its customers’ from malware and internet based threats whenever they use a removable device.

The security software will be sold exclusively from PC World.

DriveSentry says that its GoAnywhere antivirus security software protects all removable devices from being infected with malware and other threats. Niall O’keefe from PC World said: “This latest edition to PC World’s portfolio of security products addresses the growing need for portable security, as the consumer demand to download data onto removable devices such as mobile phones, mp3 players and memory sticks continues to increase. DriveSentry GoAnywhere software protects against an increasing army of new viruses. Its unique technology safeguards PC World customers from all known viruses by only allowing access to trusted applications, protecting your data from the moment your removable device connects to another drive, or the internet.”

John Safa, CTO at DriveSentry, added: “The use of removable storage devices to hold personal and sensitive data has risen dramatically in the last few years. The loss of data on these devices can be both financially and emotionally draining. DriveSentry’s patented technology automatically monitors all applications, preventing any malicious damage to their PCs.”

DriveSentry GoAnywhere works by connecting to an advisor server, which holds the identity of over a million whitelisted, blacklisted and community-based files. When a file or application is not found on the DriveSentry server, the user is warned. As the user base increases, a greater range of statistics and data appears on the server.

DriveSentry GoAnywhere will retail at £19.99 as a boxed product containing a CD that PC World customers can download the software from. It will also be available as part of a bundle of removable tools that includes drives and storage media at a cost of £9.99.
