A new scheme to help keep business crime at bay across Staffordshire is to be launched in Hanley.
PABCIS – Partnerships Against Business Crime In Staffordshire – will be launched at Hanley Library on Thursday, 12 June. The new scheme is chaired by Julie Davies, the manager of the Stoke-on-Trent Business Crime Initiative.
Earlier this year the Initiative swept the board at a prestigious awards ceremony, picking up three awards for the work it does within the business community.
PABCIS is a new scheme and enables all business crime partnerships across the county to work together at the same level.
Partnerships will share best practice and intelligence about offenders travelling across the county to commit crime.
It will also provide a support network and a pro-active framework within which crime affecting the business community can be strategically addressed.
"All of the business crime partnerships will remain independent," said Mrs Davies.
"Those who have joined are Stoke-on-Trent, Tamworth, Lichfield, Burton, Cannock, Stafford and Newcastle.
"Stoke-on-Trent Business Crime Initiative is seen as the lead in the county, so we will be leading PABCIS."
ACC Marcus Beale is the ACPO representative on the West Midlands Business Crime Forum and will be addressing the guests at next week’s launch.
"This new initiative will enable business crime partners to work together for the good of the Staffordshire business community," said ACC Beale.
"It will offer a great opportunity to share best practice and intelligence, and ensure all the business crime partnerships across the county are working to the same high standard."
Mike Schuck, chief executive of Action Against Business Crime (AABC) – the national organisation for Business Crime Reduction Partnerships – will also be at the launch.
"The launch of PABCIS in Staffordshire is excellent news for businesses in the county," said Mr Schuck.
"It shows that working together in active partnerships pays dividends, helps to reduce crime and disorder and builds positive relationships with police, the business community and the people of Staffordshire."
