Training Awards

by msecadm4921

Skills for Security has announced that it is now taking entries for its three 2007 Annual Award ceremonies.

The Annual Awards, sponsored by the National Open College Network (NOCN), recognise training and development practice in the security sector.

Gemma Marchant, Business Development Co-ordinator at Skills for Security, who is managing the awards, said: "We had some excellent award entries in 2006 and we believe that with the abundance of innovative training solutions now available, the 2007 entries will be even better and could prove very difficult to judge. We would really like to see more entries from Scotland this year and have also opened the competition up to employers and training providers in Northern Ireland."

The Skills for Security Annual Awards (England & Wales) will be presented at the Skills for Security conference on November 8 at the Kassam Stadium, Oxford. The Skills for Security Annual Awards (Northern Ireland) will run at the Waterfront Hall in Belfast on November 14. The Skills for Security Annual Awards (Scotland) will be on November 30 at the Barony Hall in Glasgow.

The categories, which are the same for all three countries, are:

Award for Dedication to Continuing Professional Development,

Award for Outstanding Coaching/Mentoring Practice,

Award for Most Innovative Training Aid/Product,

Award for Outstanding Skills Development Partnership; and Award for Best Training Professional.

Stefan Hay, Director of Business Development at Skills for Security said: "We really want training professionals in our sector to come forward and showcase what makes them different from others. The independent judges will, therefore, be looking for case studies that go beyond the basic and demonstrate the benefits of a commitment to raising the skills and professionalism of the sector and which are worthy of presenting to their industry peers as true examples of best practice."

The awards information and application forms are now available on the Skills for Security website:
