The £300m revamp of the Tube stop, due to be completed in 2017, will see the incorporation of a new Crossrail station, helping to service more than 225,000 passengers a day. The contract, which forms part of significant changes to the central London Underground, was awarded to Costain Laing OโรรดRourke Joint Venture, with ASSA ABLOY Security Doorsโรรด products specified by Halcrow Atkins.
The installation of ASSA ABLOY Security Doorsโรรด spefication door sets, which comprise stainless steel, London Underground approved ironmongery and hold a 60 minute fire rating audited by Exova Warringtonfire under the Certifire Compliance scheme, were crucial in enabling further work to continue on the multi-million-pound development. Many of the double action doors were fitted with electro-magnetic hold opens, helping to ease authorised access on high traffic and fire escape routes.
