Standard internet web browsers can now be used to command and control building systems, thanks to a development by E-Squared, a UK systems integration company. Sensorium iBMS supervises systems such as security, CCTV, Access, lighting and HEVAC, integrating all the information in realtime on one display using a standard Microsoft Internet Explorer web browser. With only one user-friendly display technology to invest in, capital costs are minimised and staff training is simplified. The product integrates the management of security and life safety events through an interactive display solution. It is even possible to pan, tilt and zoom cameras from touch screens, the firm reports. Where high-resolution monitors are installed, the product will provide fingertip selection of cameras, which proves an alternative to typing in camera numbers on a keypad.
