Perpetuity offers MSc

by Mark Rowe

Perpetuity, the UK-based security management training company, is offering security people the chance to achieve an MSc in International Security and Risk Management. The programme has been developed with the University of South Wales (USW) and can be completed via eLearning within 12 months.

Ken Livingstone MSc, Director of Perpetuity Training Academy, said: ‘We are proud to be the first training provider within the security sector to be authorised to assist security professionals in achieving the highest level of security management training and accreditation available. The programme has been written by security experts, and combines theoretical knowledge with vocational best practice to produce a Masters Degree that focuses on professional issues and advancement.’

Learners will be supported by course tutors from Perpetuity and USW. Participants interact with others through a specially designed virtual learning system, which includes forums and discussion groups. The collaboration between Perpetuity and USW follows the project to embed the Security Institute’s level 5 diploma delivered by Perpetuity, into the University’s BSc Risk Management, Security Operations and Investigations course.

Brian Blakemore is Associate Head of the School of Health, Sport and Professional Practice which includes Policing and Security, at the University of South Wales. He said: “We have established a good working relationship and a shared vision about developing the professional agenda. The MSc in International Security and Risk Management delivered by Perpetuity and accredited by USW, offers students the opportunity to engage in an intellectually challenging course, developing their potential to advance in a growing and vibrant sector. The programme exposes them to many of the theoretical, political and practical issues faced by the modern security and risk mitigation sector.”

Whilst taking the MSc, learners will be enrolled as students of USW and will have full online access to the university library. The graduates will be invited to receive their award at a University of South Wales graduation ceremony. The inaugural intake starts February 2017.
