Crimestoppers renew retail link

by Mark Rowe

The freephone crime-reporting line and charity Crimestoppers and the supermarket chain Sainsbury’s have renewed their partnership.
The two have been working together since 2010. Crimestoppers which runs the 0800 555 111 line, and website, for anonymous reporting of crimes, says that Sainsbury’s is one of Crimestoppers’ most valued partners – helping to raise awareness and vital funds for the cause.

One worker for the retail chain ran the London Marathon for the charity in 2012 – raising £2,500. Roger Holden, Director of Business Development at Crimestoppers, said: “Sainsbury’s is a valued partner of ours and we are delighted to have their support again this year. They share our vision for a country with fewer victims where individuals and communities are safe from crime and the fear of crime. Together we can reach out to hundreds of thousands of people all over the UK and really make a difference.”

And Phillip Hagon, pictured, Head of Corporate Security at Sainsbury’s, added: “Sainsbury’s had a proud reputation for sound business ethics and support for local communities so our decision to continue our support for Crimestoppers was an easy one to make.
“For over 26 years Crimestoppers has provided a unique means for the public to help the police drive down crime and Sainsbury’s is delighted to be a partner for the benefit of our colleagues, customers and the community at large.”
