Dual light options

by Mark Rowe

Redvision has launched Full HD X-Series IP in standard, on-board infra-red only and combined dual light (100m IR and white light) pan and tilt camera options.

The product is available in three variants: a standard low light day-night camera; with inbuilt 100m infra-red illuminators; or with dual light illumination offering combined infra-red and white light. The makers add that the X-Series Dual Light also has an illumination range of 100m. CCTV operators can toggle between infra-red and white light to suit ambient lighting conditions or simply to identify a target’s colour make up in the dark.

The Dual Light’s illumination profile can also be configured as part of a pre-set position to auto-switch on white light to deter intruders. This enables the product to tour any presets between one and 100, with pre-defined lighting profiles, adjusting lighting type and strength for best effect it is claimed. The lighting profile for each preset can be further adjusted for when the product is operating in night-time, day-time or weekend modes.

Paul Hucker, Managing Director of the Hampshire-based CCTV manufacturer, Redvision, says: “IR lighting is covert and white light is overt. Not only can the IR or white light be used to produce optimal images in any camera view at day, night or weekends, but operators can also switch white lights on as a visual deterrent. This feature can be combined with audio warnings to even greater effect. Our tests show that the white light enables full facial recognition from as far away as 40m at night and the IR mode allows operation in total darkness”
