Wisenet cameras

by Mark Rowe

New from Hanwha Techwin (formerly Samsung Techwin) are 24 camera and dome models in the new Wisenet Q series. They feature H.265 compression and WiseStream, a complementary compression technology which controls encoding.

When WiseStream is combined with H.265 compression, bandwidth efficiency can be improved by up to 75 per cent compared to current H.264 compression, the makers say. Infra-red (IR) illumination is provided as standard. Available in 2MP and 4MP Full HD versions, the cameras also feature True Wide Dynamic Range, Defocus Detection, Hallway View and Lens Distortion Correction.

Defocus detection, available on all models, recognises when a camera is out of focus. The focus of Wisenet Q 4MP models equipped with a varifocal lens can also be adjusted over the network to reduce installation time. Hallway View provides a way to monitor narrow vertical areas such as corridors, tunnels and aisles. It enables cameras which can generate images in the 9:16 x 3:4 aspect ratio, to work effectively in tall and narrow spaces, with the added bonus of minimising bandwidth and video storage requirements.

Lens Distortion Correction (LDC) compensates for the image distortion that can occur with wide angle lenses. The products also offer motion and tamper detection, PoE/DC dual power and on board edge based storage options, including NAS or 128GB micro SD, SDHC and SDXC. Visit www.hanwha-security.eu.
