Cyber assessment tool

by Mark Rowe

The Cyber Security Assessment is a new interactive online tool developed by the team behind IFSEC International and Interop London for a business to assess their organisation’s vulnerability to hacks and breaches.

The free tool allows users to benchmark themselves against the Cybersecurity Framework developed by the National Institute of Standards and Technology, US Department of Commerce (NIST) to help businesses to manage cyber security-related risk. The framework was published in response to an Executive Order from President Obama and covers five critical areas of cyber security: identify, protect, detect, respond and recover.

Gerry Dunphy, Event Director, IFSEC Portfolio, UBM EMEA said: “Cyber security should be right at the top of every business’s agenda. The ever-increasing number of connected devices, smart buildings and exponential growth of data make it necessary for all businesses to protect themselves. The Cyber Security Assessment is a useful tool for anyone to check that they are developing and deploying effective cyber security measures.”

Ion Interactive, a provider of data-driven interactive content, worked with IFSEC to develop the interactive functionality to make this an intuitive tool for businesses of all sizes to use.

Luke Bilton, Director, Digital & Content, UBM EMEA said: “The Cyber Security Assessment is the second interactive tool that UBM has developed with the team at Ion Interactive. We have been very impressed by how intuitive the tool is, and would urge businesses large and small to assess themselves in this important area.”
