Royal Holloway and University of London’s MSc in Information Security – Distance Learning has received full certification by GCHQ for its cyber security education.
The National Cyber Security Strategy recognises education as key to the development of cyber security skills and in a second round of assessments by GCHQ Royal Holloway and University of London’s MSc in Information Security (Distance Learning) was one of six cyber security Master’s degrees to be certified in this round.
This builds on last year when Royal Holloway’s MSc in Information Security received certification, having also been judged to provide well-defined and appropriate content.
This means that Royal Holloway, already an Academic Centre of Excellence in Cyber Security Research, offers two of the 12 certified Master’s in Information Security available nationally. The distance learning degree allows students resident almost anywhere to undertake a certified Masters in Information Security.
Director of Distance Learning in the Information Security Group at Royal Holloway, Professor Peter Komisarczuk, said: “We are delighted to receive this certification of our distance learning Masters in Information Security. We have a team of twenty comprising academics and industry professionals that deliver the Masters and this certification is a wonderful endorsement of the team and the quality of our degree.”
