ACS Pacesetters award

by Mark Rowe

Security officer Thomas Atley, pictured left, of Ward Security was among men and women presented with a ‘Security Officer of Distinction’ award at the annual ACS Pacesetters Achievement Awards 2016.

Thomas was nominated by Joanne Holloway, Facilities Supervisor for Archer Daniels Midland (ADM UK), pictured right, a client for which Ward Security has delivered security services for six years. The nomination was in recognition of his cool-headedness after a major gas leak outside the ADM site in Erith, Bexley, south-east London in November 2015.

The incident lasted for most of Thomas Atley’s shift, but in Joanne Holloway’s words: “Tom remained professional, calm and efficient throughout, and his communication between the police, fire brigade, Gas Board, ADM management other ADM departments and colleagues was exceptional. I couldn’t have been prouder when Tom went to collect his award and the events on the day of the gas leak were explained to the room. Tom’s communication and coordination throughout that day made him a truly worthy recipient of the award.”

Kevin Ward, Managing Director of Ward Security added: “Ward Security prides itself in attracting and retaining the best staff who can take charge of any unexpected situation that arises. As this incident illustrates, our officers take great pride in their work and put the interests of the clients first. Thomas Atley ensured the situation was well managed and all relevant parties were supported and informed. We are delighted the client ADM UK has recognised Thomas’ outstanding efforts and nominated him for this award. We congratulate Thomas on his achievement.”

The Security Officer of Distinction Awards took place at Royal Windsor Racecourse, on 24th May 2016. The event is organised by the Register of The ACS Pacesetters membership, which lists security firms that are in the top 15pc of the SIA ACS benchmarking. Officers are recommended by clients for whom they work, endorsed by the contract company, and ultimately selected by the main sponsors of the event. As well as a plaque, Thomas Atley received a prize of two Club Enclosure tickets at Royal Windsor Racing & Events.
