Service for shopping centres

by Mark Rowe

The commercial property and investment company LCP has selected a contractor for integrated cleaning and security for six of its shopping centres.

Axis Group was already delivering a dual service at the Wulfrun Shopping Centre in Wolverhampton, pictured. LCP invited the contract firm to tender for other sites. Axis reports it has renewed the contract for Wulfrun and has been awarded The Aldridge Shopping Centre; Centre House Aldridge; and Park Place, all around Walsall in the West Midlands; plus Churchill Shopping Centre, Dudley. All these sites have now been mobilised, and two more, in the north of England – the Concourse Shopping Centre, Skelmersdale, and The Hardshaw Centre in St Helens – are due to start in December.

Jonathan Levine, Axis Group Chief Executive, says: “The request for combined services is becoming more and more prevalent, especially from the leisure and hospitality sector where customers want a dynamic and responsive service. By combining the management of our security and cleaning services, we are able to simplify lines of communication for the shopping centre manager and provide even greater consistency to the employees working within the different teams to deliver crucial front-line services.”

And Rob Ellis, senior asset manager at LCP, says: “Following the good and consistent work at the Wulfrun Shopping Centre, we are happy to extend our working relationship with Axis on additional sites within our shopping centre portfolio.”

For the new sites which have already been mobilised, Axis says that induction training was provided to bring consistent service, understanding of health and safety. Other training is addressed on an ongoing basis, the contractor adds. Timegate workforce management software is also being brought in at each site for service delivery tracking and real time reporting of incidents such as faults, slips and trips.
