Mall goes HD

by Mark Rowe

A case study of Full HD cameras installed at the Meydan Shopping Mall, in Istanbul.

The 128,000 meter square Meydan Shopping Mall is one of Turkey’s largest shopping centres with about 25 million visitors a year to over 70 national and international brand stores.

After the appointment of new management, a decision was made to replace an old analogue CCTV system with an IP network video surveillance system.

The cameras were supplied by NFS Teknoloji, Samsung Techwin Europe’s distribution partner in Turkey, and installed by Nemesis Elektronik, one of Turkey’s largest systems integrators. Having previously recommended Samsung products for other large projects, NFS Teknoloji’s technical team recommend to Nemesis Elektronik that all the IP cameras and network video recorders for the project should be ordered from the same, single source.

The 350 Samsung WiseNetIII 2MP Full HD network cameras installed at the shopping mall include SNB-6004P fixed cameras, SNV-6084R vandal resistant domes and SNP-6200RH 20x optical zoom IR network domes. Images from all the cameras are recorded onto Samsung SRN-4000 NVRs which incorporate hot-swappable hard drives that support RAID5 and RAID6. Operators are able to view both live and recorded images with the help of Samsung Central Management Software.
