Locksmiths and key cutters may be missing out on valuable revenue opportunities, due to a misconception that replacement keys cannot be cut for many popular UNION cylinders. So says the Willenhall-based lock manufacturer UNION, part of the Door Hardware & Access Control Group, a business unit of ASSA ABLOY Opening Solutions UK & Ireland.
The company is recommending UNION’s outlets do not miss out, over the belief that 112A profile key blanks for UNION differ cylinder ranges cannot be purchased or reproduced. It has been reported that because many locksmiths and key cutters understand that key blanks such as the 112A profile feature patent protection, there is a misunderstanding that replacement key blanks cannot be purchased or copied. However, this patent protection is designed to maintain key cutting with locksmith professionals and ensure that end users utilise genuine UNION key blanks.
Independent locksmith and key cutters can cut new keys from blanks for a range of UNION cylinders, such as the 112A Profile, which is available from most major wholesalers. Blanks for these cylinders can also be ordered from UNION.
