Door federation

by Mark Rowe

The number of companies joining the Door & Hardware Federation (DHF) has hit record highs, the federation reports.

Its total membership is approaching 270, its highest ever, with an average of five new members joining every month. The DHF represents industrial, commercial and garage doors and gates installers, as well as UK manufacturers and suppliers of building hardware, locks and architectural ironmongery.

All DHF members provide products and services to Quality Assured standards. The DHF is introducing training schemes for its members in a number of sectors including industrial doors, garage doors and powered gates.

All non-fire products produced by DHF industrial door and doorset members are now CE marked. The DHF adds that it has been helping its members achieve complete CE mark compliance in the months before this became a legal requirement on July 1. A number of the new members joining are from the gate automation sector. The DHF powered gate members are introducing a Safety Assured mark which only gate manufacturers, suppliers and installers of powered automatic gates and equipment belonging to the DHF can apply to their products.

Said Bob Perry, executive chairman of the DHF: “The message is now getting across loud and clear to door, hardware and powered gate companies. To compete effectively in today’s tough and demanding marketplace, companies must strive to achieve the levels of quality, compliance and safety already reached by our members. And the best way for them to do that is to seek membership of the DHF and take advantage of the benefits and help that we provide.”
