IP server family

by Mark Rowe

BCDVideo has released a family of HP-powered IP video and access control servers, the BCD320E8 series. Four sizes of the IP video storage servers are available – 6TB, 8TB, 9TB, and 12TB. All units include Windows Server 2008, and bi-directional 6G SAS video storage drives. The US-based company’s five-year worldwide on-site warranty is also standard. The product features a single Intel Xeon processor with a 9554 PassmarkTM CPU Benchmark rating, nearly 48 per cent greater than Intel’s last-generation E5620 chipset.

Tom Larson, Director of Global Accounts at BCDVideo, said: “We’re excited to be able to bring both performance and quality to the budget-conscious market. While these systems lack the scalability and other features of our BCD380V8 series, they are perfect for those environments that require the best possible product within a particular price point. Previously, the end customer has accepted from other sources either a white box or a collection of parts built to meet a price point with no acknowledgement of bandwidth capabilities or performance as it applies to video storage. The BCD320E8 continues our adherence to only providing high-performance products, regardless of price point. These servers hit the mark on both price and performance quality.”

The firm also released new access control servers based on the same technology. Two models of the BCD320E8-ACS are available; one with 1TB of storage; the other with dual 6G SAS 450GB drives in a RAID 1 format. Both units are also supported by a five-year worldwide on-site warranty.
