Security can be simple

by Mark Rowe

A guarding company quotes 2012 Home Office Statistics, that 206 people on average have been arrested every year since 2002 in relation to terrorism related offences, 37pc of which have resulted in a charge. However, terrorism is not just about physical attack, but can take the form of attacks on vital information or communication systems, causing disruption and economic damage.

From 2001 there has been a 250pc increase in UK counter-terrorism spending, from £1 billion in 2001 to about £3.5 billion in 2010, with a larger number of businesses now being used as targets by terrorists for many different reasons; highly visible targets, disruption of economic processes as well as those companies with links to or controlled by governments that are opposed by the terrorists rests.

Roy Coplen from KM Security Solutions said: “Security is becoming an increasingly important consideration in all aspects of our lives but does not necessarily have to involve sophisticated or expensive measures. A simple evaluation of potential risks and practical, cost-effective strategies could prevent considerable loss, creating an effective security system leads to higher efficiency, increased profit and a improved image with suppliers, customers and competitors.”
