Wavestore launch Base

by Mark Rowe

Wavestore has introduced Base, an entry level version of its video recording and management system (VMS).

Base shares many of the features which are common to the Premium and Enterprise versions of Wavestore’s VMS, but is limited to 16 camera inputs.

Chris Williams, Director of Wavestore, says: “Wavestore is perhaps best known for its successful involvement in medium to large video surveillance projects, but we have recently seen a sharp increase in interest in our VMS for applications, such as retail and office environments where there is only a requirement for a small number of cameras. Base is offered at a significantly lower price and whilst it does not include certain features, such as video analytics and our unique 360 degree image de-warping solution, customers have the option at any time, via a software key, to upgrade to our Premium and Enterprise versions.”

As with the Premium and Enterprise versions, Base is ONVIF Profile S conformant and uses the Linux operating platform to simultaneously record images captured by combinations of analogue, IP, megapixel, HD,HDcctv and thermal imaging cameras. It is built around an open Linux based platform design which means the product firm says that it can work with camera manufacturers and other third parties.

With this customisable graphical user interface (GUI), operators can position and size the display of live or recorded video from multiple cameras on a single screen to match their operational requirements. The multi-language Base, like the established versions, is an embedded Linux server solution that can be installed in ten minutes, it is claimed, and includes free client software which operates on Linux, Windows or mobile platforms.
