Officer of distinction

by Mark Rowe

An Axis Security officer, Jameel Jobey, was recognised with a Security Officer of Distinction Award at the second ACS Pacesetters Achievement Awards Luncheon, at the Royal Windsor Racecourse on May 20.

Jameel, pictured right, has worked at the Woking Shopping Centre for three and a half years, and his hard work warranted Jonathan Rushworth, Site Security Manager, to nominate him for the award.

Jameel has twice prevented shoplifters from stealing goods of about £2,000, contained an assault and racial abuse case on two shopkeepers, and resuscitated an elderly lady who had fallen and was not breathing.

Chris Wisely, Managing Director at Axis Security Services, says: “We train our officers to a high level, so they are fully equipped to deal with any situation, however challenging.”

Jameel adds: “I am happy to help everyone at Woking Shopping Centre, visitor or employee, creating a safer environment for all.”

The ACS Pacesetter Achievement Awards recognise officers who have given service to the industry over a long period of time, or have averted some major crisis on their client’s premises. This year, 14 officers were awarded with the Security Officer of Distinction Award. ACS Membership comprises security companies within the top 15pc of benchmarking and achievement levels set by the Security Industry Authority Approved Contractor Scheme. Some 790 companies have ACS accreditation, however only 119 are eligible to join the Pacesetters.
